Who Is Whole House Retrofit For?

Whole House retrofit is ideal if you’re:

  • Planning a major renovation or already stripping your home back to brick
  • Living in a cold, draughty, or inefficient house that needs a full upgrade
  • Looking to dramatically reduce energy bills and carbon emissions
  • Wanting to align with PAS 2035 or EnerPHit standards for serious performance

If you’re ready to make bold, lasting improvements, this is the route that delivers real change, not just quick fixes.

What does a Whole House Retrofit Include?

Fabric First

We start by upgrading the building envelope to the highest standards. This means installing full insulation in walls, floors, and roofs to dramatically reduce heat loss. Airtightness measures ensure minimal drafts, while careful design and materials reduce thermal bridging, where heat escapes through gaps and junctions, maximising the effectiveness of your insulation

Low-Carbon Heating

Replacing old fossil fuel heating systems with low-carbon alternatives is key. We specialise in installing efficient air or ground source heat pumps that use renewable energy from the air or ground. These systems often include underfloor heating for gentle, even warmth and low-temperature hot water systems that work in harmony with your new insulation levels.

Ventilation Systems

As homes become more airtight, maintaining fresh air is essential for health and comfort. We design and install whole-house Mechanical Extract Ventilation (MEV) or Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) systems. MVHR units recover heat from outgoing stale air to warm incoming fresh air, minimising energy loss while keeping your home well ventilated

Renewable Energy

Where suitable, we integrate renewable energy technologies such as solar photovoltaic (PV) panels and battery storage to generate and store clean electricity onsite. Solar thermal systems for hot water may also be an option, reducing reliance on grid energy and cutting carbon emissions further.

Smart Controls

Our deep retrofits include modern control systems that allow zonal heating—heating different rooms to different temperatures as needed—and real-time energy monitoring. These smart controls give you precise control over your home’s energy use, helping you optimise comfort while minimising costs.

High-Performance Glazing

Windows and doors are upgraded to high-performance triple glazing with insulated frames and airtight seals. This not only reduces heat loss and draughts but also improves acoustic insulation and security, contributing to overall comfort and efficiency.

Material Choices

We prioritise natural, breathable materials that help regulate indoor humidity and improve air quality. Where possible, we select low-embodied carbon products that reduce the environmental impact of your retrofit. This approach supports healthier living spaces and aligns with sustainable building principles.

“Our whole house retrofit completely changed our home. From stripped-back walls to new heating and ventilation, everything feels warmer, healthier, and far more efficient. The team guided us through every step, explaining options clearly and managing the complex work smoothly. Our energy bills have dropped dramatically, and the comfort difference is incredible. It was a big project, but well worth it.”
